A method based on the antigen/antibody immunological reaction is used. In order to perform this reaction, a patient sample is treated with a reagent. Next is dropping on an immunochromatographic plate loaded with an antibody or antigen. Following is formation of complexes of corresponding antigen and antibody, which trigger a color reaction with an intensity proportional to the amount of complexes formed.

Classical microbiological methods are used: - Direct cultivation on nutrient media (liquid or solid) for 24 hours; - Saturation of the primary material for examination for 24 hours, followed by cultivation for 24 hours; - If it is needed in slower growing microorganisms – cultivation for more than 24 hours; - Identification of developed microorganisms using different methods – biochemical tests, latex agglutination, cultivation on chromogenic nutrient media, etc.

Complementing classical tests:

• serve to select the most appropriate antimicrobial drug for treatment;
• automated identification of a microbial agent.

Automatic immunological analyzers are used. A sample of the patient is examined – blood, serum or plasma in which antigens or antibodies are detected, a mark of infectious or other diseases. Using the immunological analyzer, a quantitative estimate of the test sample is given. This allows monitoring of the dynamics, monitoring of the effect of a therapy performed, assessment of the severity of the infectious disease, etc.
